SWIMMING AND LIFE-SAVING
MANY CHILDREN QUALIFY
The staff of the local District High School hav© put a great deal o» ... into swimming and life-saving edition sine© the commencement of the term and the’ refforts have been crowned with success, a large number of tli e pupils gaining certificated for distance swimming while several hav© qualified for life-saving awards.
Certificates for swimming 25 yards have been issued to 41 children ; JO yards, 48 children; 220 yards certificates have been presented to 33 youngsters and 18 of tli© pupils have completed a half-mile swim. Six of the swimmers have proved that they can swim one mile.
Life-saving awards have been won as follows: Ins truictor’s certificate, 1; intermediate 34, primary .‘ls, bronze medallion 20, elementary 30 making a total of 120. Several of the children hav© qualified previously and the figures given above axe for those who fulfilled requirements this year.
