PICNIC SPURTS AT MANGATAINOKA
PUBLIC SUPPORT POOR. Lack of transport, shortage of petrol, and a dull morning all contributed to affect tile attendance of the public at the picnic sports meeting conducted by the Mangatainoka Athletic Society at the Mangatainoka Domain on Boxing Day. However, those who did patronise the outing were treated to an excellent programme which catered splendidly for the boys and girls in many events. Grown-ups too enjoyed oliaiustepping, nail-driving and other picnic competitions. Mangatainoka sports officials for tile day were:—President, Mr T. Hanrahau; starter, Mr S. Oiliver; marshall, Mr J. Watson; judges, Messrs K. L. Harvey, W. Adams and 11. R. Harvey ; announcer, Mr DeMalmanche; gatekeepers, Messrs P. Moynahan, A. Cox, G. Robertson and A. Devonshire; cashier, Mr W.
