TARARUA POWER BOARD

ENGINEER’S MONTHLY REPORT. At the monthly meeting of the Tararua Electric Power Board the engineer-manager, Mr D. Fraser, submitted the following report for th© month of May : Pabiatua Area. One new service line was erected and a defective pole replaced; two services changed from 2 wire to 4 wire and a temporary range service run for W. Angus and Co., Contractor, Mangahao. Six water heaters previously controlled by time switch were connected to the pilot wire control. 5 poles were replaced in Princess Street, new cross arms fitted and conductors restrained, overhanging trees in the Borough endangering lines were cut back. On the sth the Defence Work extensions were livened up and a supply given to the workshop and office, the first extension of the D.T. line has been completed, but the services to the building have yet to be run. From the 20th the sTaff were meter reading and changing the connection of old two rate meters, this being necessary before the new rates become operable. To date 280 met rs have been changed, there is still 270 to be completed. Eketahuna Area. Two services were reconstructed and the L.T. lines at Hamua extended to supply a range. Trees were cut away from the line in the Hukanui area. The line gang assisted with the construction of the line to the Defence Work at Pahiatua, but unfavourable weather made line work practically impossible in this area. A number of installation jobs have been completed. In the Pongaroa area tree cutting was carried out and the L.T. ring main completed in the Borough. The peak load registered was 1002 K.V.A. compared with 1614 the previous month. The connected load shows an increase of 43.665 K.W. details o) which are 10 lighting points. 13 heating points, 5 ranges and stovett.es, 2 water heaters, 1 industrial motor and 1 shearing motor.
