FIRE BRIGADE SURGEON
DR. PATERSON HONOURED. “Whenever I hear the siren, I rise, look through convenientlyplaced windows to the hospitals and, assured on that point, I retire again. ’ With these words Dr. H. Paterson modestly outlined the extent of his service to the Fire Brigade when he was presented last night with a two-year bar on his completion of seven years’ service as honorary surgeon to the Brigade. “However, 7 Dr. Paterson continued, “any fireman so unfortunate as to be injured would find me on duty.” Superintendent W. Lawry, who presented the bar, extended a hearty welcome to Dr. Paterson and expressed the hope that they might see him complete his 25 years with them.
Dr. Paterson thanked the Brigade and Mr Lawry for the reception they had accorded him, and extended an invitation to supper. This was served at the station and proved that Dr. Paterson well understands the meaning of hospitality.
