The following is the official report of to-day’s sale issued by the lington Wool Brokei s’ As.v.ciati.ui At the third Wellington wool catalogues comprising approximately 24,000 bales were submitted to a lull and representative bench of buyers. Competition throughout wa 5 exceptionally keen. Bradford and the Continent were operating freely, and it is also thought a quantity was bought for Japan. America was operating sparingly. Pi ices can be quoted as practically on a par with those oj the January s>ale. The offering comprised mostly top-making wools of average types with a veiy lew outstanding Hips. As was the case with the January offering many of the clips offered showed signs of the effects of the weather and were discoloured. Many Clips were carrving dust. The “bulk of the wool consisted of crossbreds drawn from the Manawatu and Wairarapa districts with tile usual quota of lialfbreds from Marlborough and Nelson. Prices for bellies and pieces were fully firm on those ruling at the Wellington sale on January 3. Good crutchings were slightly easier while inferior and seedy sorts showed a slight appreciation. There was a good demand for lambs’ wool and here again the better types were fully firm on January Growers still show a readiness to meet the market, and clearances of 96 per cent. were effected under the hammer.
