Mr J. Rit hard-on. of Paliiatua, is a visitor to Wellington. Mr D. McKay, of the staff of the Paliiatua Gas Co. is spending Lis annual vacation in Auckland. The Rev. and Mrs A. A. Armstrong and family returned last night from a holiday in Wellington. Mr and Mrs E. R. Winkler have returned from a short visit to the Waitarere Beach. Mr. Mrs and Miss Coombridge, of Hamilton, spent the week-end in Pongaroa. Mr J. Nelson and Miss M. Nelson, of Kaitawa. are visitors to Wellington, where they are guests at the Hotel Cecil. Mr J. D. C. Crewe and Mr and Mrs Shekleton are visiting Wellington, where they are guests at the Royal Oak Hotel. Competing at the Masterton A. and P. Show, B. Olsen’s (.Paliiatua) “Chum” secured a second in the pony jumping competition. The Rev. L. F. Owen, who is to be stationed in Pongaroa m future, paid a preliminary visit during the week-end. Messrs R. Merrie (Pahiatua) G. T. Smith (Pongaroa), P. H. Donovan (Pongaroa) and T. Smith fAltredton) have returned from a fishing trip to Taupo. Mr W. Gosling, of Dannevirke,* a resident of Pongaroa in tho early days; is re-visiting the district as the guest of Mr and Mrs J. McAnulty. Mr and Mrs F. Wooffindin and family, of Palmerston North, have returned after having spent a holiday with Mr and Mrs McKay, oi Pongaroa. Mr F. Gregory’s (Paliiatua) “Clapham’’ secured a second in the pony jumping competition, 13.2 to 14.2 hands, at the Masterton A. and P,. Show. Competing at the Masterton Show, Mr J. E. Hewitt, of Mangamaire, secured the following awards in the Romney Marsh (open) section: Rani, 21—33 months, first and champion and third; ram, 12—21 months, fourth ; two rams, 12—21 months, first; ram lamb, first; ewe, over 21 months, third ; ewe, 12—21 months, second-, two ewes, 12—21 months, first ; group, third ; pen of four twotooth rams, fourth.
