There were heavy yar dings of sheep at to-day’s sale but, despite this, there was a good demand for If all good store sheep. Better quality lambs sold very well, as did also come select young, mixed, aged breeding ewes. The attendance was very large and indications were that the demand will continue. Fat cattle did not realise very high prices, but a fairly heavy penning made a satisfactory clearance at prices well up to late rates. Boner cows were at unchanged prices. Prices were as follows: Cattle: Prime quality cows, £7 17s 6d to £8 ss; second grade, £o 15s to £6 los ; light and unfinished, £4 to £5 os -/prime heifers, £7 to £8; medium prime, £5 12s 6d to £fi; others, £5 to £5 los; prime cows and heifers, £7 to £7 12s 6d; cows and vealers, £3 ss; P.A. vealers, 12s 6d • boner cows, heavy, £3 10s to £4: backward. £2 10s to £3 7s €d; three-year P.A. bullocks, £7 los to £9. Sheep: Fell-grown w.f.w. lambs, 17s Id; second quality, 14s 6d to 15s 9d ; smaller sorts, 11s 6d to 13s 9d ; culls. 8s 6d to 10s 3d; good b.f. culls, 18s; smaller, 15s 8d to 16s Id : backward. 12s to 14s; ewes, best, 16s 7d to 275; medium-sized, 15s 3d to 15s lOd; good five-year ewes, 18s 7d; others, 16s to 17s 3d; backward five and six-year, 12s; small two-tooth ewes, 21s 9d ; extra good m.a. ewes, 26s 6d; two-tooth wethers, 15s 7d. Fat sheep: Late rates prevailed for lambs and wethers, of which the entry was large. Medium prime lambs, 18s 9d; light, 16s 6d to 16s lOd; prime wethers, 20s 3d to 21s 2d : second grade. 18s to 18s 6d; light. 16s 9d to 17s 4d; unfinished, los 6d; prine b.f. two-tooths, 20s to 31s; medium weights, 18s 9d to 19s Sd: lighter. 16s 3d to 18s 6d. Fat ewes: The best offered made 10s to 12s 6*d. Daily cattle: Very few dairy cattle were yarded and values were unaltered. Good springing cows sold at from £8 10s to £8 15s; backward, £5 15s : heifers in milk. £7. Poultry: Hens, Is 3d to 2s lOd: puliets, 2s lOd; cockerels. Is 7d to 3s 7d ; cockerel chicks, lOd to Is 4d ; ducks, 2s Id to 2s 9d. Pigs: Weaners. 7s to 12s 6d ; slips, 13s to £1 2s 6d: stores, £1 Is to £1 10s; porkers, £1 9s to £1 14s; baconers. £2 10s.
