t YOUNG FARMERS CLUB The monthly meeting of the Nireaba Young Farmers' Club was held last week, Mr R. J. Lawrence presiding over a moderate attendance. Messrs B. Davidson and E. M. Wright will represent the club at the educational week to be held in Wellington at an early date. Mr J. Barnes addressed those present, his subject dealing with the composition of milk, cooling systems, testing, tainting and various other problems which confront the dairy farmer. He also spoke on milk separation and illustrated how a heavy loss could occur by the use of a faulty separator. He also answered questions put forward by members. Mr A. Colder has been asked to give an addiess on pig-husbandry at the next meeting, which will be held on July 11. A vote of thanks to Mr Barnes, followed by supper, brought the evening to a close. The Nireaua Young Farmers' Club team in the seven-a-side tournament at the Palmerston North Show got as far as the quarter-finals, when they were beaten by Marton A, the eventual winners. The dub was represented by Messrs IvL. Wilkin, B. Davidson, E. Goss. W. Holloway. R. Lawrence, D. Payne ana IN. Petersen. Thirty-four teams competed. RIFLE CLUB.

The following scores were registered at the weekly shoot of the Miniature Rifle Club: L. Hansen 99, P. Sigvertsen 99, R. Shannon 98, L. Goss 98, S. R. Blewett 97, M. Stewart 97, L. Liliey 97, G. Drysdale 95, W. Manser 95, L. Sigvertseu 95, C. Hansen 94, Jim Petersen 93, J. P. Sigvertsen 92, Miss Sigvertsen 92, R. Petersen 88, K. Death 84. The handicap limit was 99. The shoot-off was won by L. Hansen, who was awarded the weekly trophy. The following team will represent Nireaha in their list Byrne Shield shoot this season: N. C. Petersen, M. Stewart, F.’ Sigvertsen. L. J. Sigvertsen, W. Manser, Miss B. Petersen, Miss M. Sigvertsen, L. Liliey, J. P. Sigvertsen, Jack Sigvertsen; emergencies, R. Shannon and L Goss. HOCKEY. A hockey match played in the domain resulted in a' win l<>r ihe Hainua team, who beat thedocal girls by the odd goal in five. Play was fast, with a definite- improvement on recent games. Miss F. Ngatuere scored for Nireaha. The referees Were Messrs T. Edge and R. Farrow. EUCHRE AND DANCE. On Saturday evening the footballers had another card party and dance. The evening was quite successful, over fifty people attending. Winners of the card prizes were: Ladies, Mrs N. Terry 1 (after a tie with Miss B. Butler) ; consolation, Mrs Wilkin. Men: Mr C. A. Goss 1 ; consolation, M~ J. R. Mason. Dancing followed, the music being supplied by Messrs A. Hanson, P. K. Daysh, and J. Drysdale. Mr R. Lawrence acted as M.C. Trophies for the cards were donated by Mr Cyril Goss, and Mr R. Thomasen offered to pro vide those for the next evening.
