ANOTHER PRETTY WEDDING

BENGE—PHILIPS. On ‘Juno 18, at Holy Trinity Church, Woodvilie, one of the most charming and certainly the youngest bride for some time was escorted up the aisle by her father, when Gwendolyn Rita, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. H. Philips, of Woodviile, became the wife of Maurice James Benge, fifth son of the late Mr and Mrs \V. R. Benge, of Belvedere, Carterton. The ceremony was performed by Rev. B P. Williams, vicar of Woodville, the (bride wearing an anklelength frock of white crepe-de-chine, simply but beautifully made entirely by herself, and a lovely veil, kindly lent by a friend. She carried a shower bouquet of roses, daphne, narcissi and Iceland poppies and maiden-haid fern and asparagus fern. In attendance as chief bridesmaid was Miss Berenice Philips (sister of the bride) in an ice-blue figured taf-

feta frock finished with pink buttons and rosebuds in her hair. Barbara and Julian Benge, nieces of the bridegroom, were the little bridesmaids and were dressed alike in pale green sprigged silk Kate Greenaway frocks, with narrow floral bandeaux in their hair. They carried posies of Iceland poppies. Mr Bernard Benge, of Dalefield, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man, and Mr R. J. Philips was usher. As the bride left the church she was presented with a silver horseshoe by Miss Dorothy Philips. At the. reception, held at the homo of the bride’s parents, the homemade wedding cake was much admired and appreciated. Mrs W. H. Philips, the bride’s mother, was attired in a brown ensemble, and carried a posy of yellow jonbuils and autumn leaves. Mrs David Benge, of Kimbolton, wore a dark grey tailormade suit and black velour hat. The beautiful flowers for the bouquets, etc., which were made by Mise Patty Meredith, were sent from their own garden ibv Mr and Mrs W. Toogood (of Lower Hutt), grandparents of the bride. When Mr and Mrs Maurice Benge left by car for the north, the bride was wearing a brown tailor-made suit and brown halo hat, with accessories to tone.
