BYRNE SHIELD SHOOTING
MAKOMAKO S GOOD START. The Bush Miniature Rifle Association began the Byrne Shield competition on Tuesday night. Unfortunately the Nireaha Club, which performed so consistently the two previous seaeons did not enter and clubs drawn against them will have a bye. Makoirako journeyed to Aiangatainoka where they put up a fine performance recording an average of 96.5 for ten men, winning by 37 points. W. G. Eising began well with a brilliant possible and S. Total 965 Total 928 HUKANUI BEAT KONINI Shooting on the Konini Club's range Hukanui scored a handsome win by 55 points. Unfortunately the home side had several men down with “flu" and this kept scoring down, although the junior members who won* called on acquitted themselves quite well. Hukanui were one point off an average of 95 which was good shooting and Mrs. Foss is to be congratulated on being at the top of the tree, while the veteran Chris Eddie also rang on a very fine 96.
