Jack Hides, the explorer and author has died after several weeks in hospital suffering from pneumonia at the age of 31. He achieved international reputation before ho was 30 for his exploratory work in Papua. Hardships endured in a vain attempt to save a friend Lyalls life last September had lowered his resistance.
