SUDDEN FALL
DURING CAVE EXPLORATION > While exploring .» large linn st« cave at Ooonoor on Saturday -it* - noon Mr A. Clapperton. of Eketahuna. who was leading a Daiinevirke party, consisting of Alessrs K. Thomson. A. Anderson and Alss G H<x»d, had the misfortune to slip over the edge of a crevasse, believed to be 66 feet deep, landing on a small \ rotruding ledge 20 feet down. M»ss was the first to discover Mr Clapperton’s plight. She noticed him attempting to climb from the le by means o* a ladder, hut lie slipped. again falling T o the ledge. In doing -o » twisted Ins back Alessrs A. Anderson and K. Tin - son. went to the climber's a >-i -t - n.nco, and with some difficulty brought All Clapperton to the opin a dazed condition. H, qui.-V came round and was later able to return to his home. He was lucky ;o escape serious injury.
