NO WATER AT SCHOOL
COMMITTEE EXPRESSES CONCERN.
Reporting to the Pahiatua School Committee last night the headmaster (Mr T. Clarke) said: We had no supply of water at the school on Monday and Tuesday, March 21st and 22nd and on other odd days during the month. It is hardly necessary lor me to point out to the committee the menace this is to the health of the pupils especially during -the present warm weather. After this was read a member of the visiting committee, Mr E. H Lett, recommended replacing leaky taps in bad order with new ones. Mr E T. Stevens: But if we have ilo water why worry about the taps? Mr Lett considered that somethin! should be done about the water shortage. The chairman : We can’t help it—the water is cut off at my house. The headmaster pointed out that it had been off altogether all day and the children had no drinking water. The Mayor when asked had not been aware of the fact he added. Members expressed concern and thought it was unfair that the school should be penalised in this respect.
