Electric Telegraph—Press .\ss<- -inKon WANGANUI, I —lst Night. “The New Zealand Railways Advertising Department is Die worst offender, but it does not come under tlie Act, _ declared a delegate when the question of eliminating- roadside hoardings was under consideration at tlie annual conference of the North Inland Alotor Union to-day. Mr E. A tin or,- (Taranaki) said the union was not likely to receive any consideration when the Government —not the present Government alone, but all Governments—was the chief offender. There was the spectacle of railway stations so blocked up with hoardings advertising whisky and beer that it was even hard 'to see the trains. The union could not expect to receive much satisfaction until the Government put its own house in order.
A motion by Air H. C. C Shepherd (YYairarapa) that the tii at tor he re - terred to the New Zealand Road Safety Council was lost, and a motion by Air E. I>.1 > . H.ay Wellington! that the matter be referred to the executive fur consideration was carried.
