The Daily Herald” says that Black Shirts subjected a young Australian, Howard Daniel. who is spending a holiday in Italy, to such outrageous indignities that Tie intends complaining to the Foreign Office. Daniel, whose visit coincided" with defence manoeuvres, was arrested as a suspect in a Syracuse cafe, marched to the Black Shirt headquarters, and detained six hours m a room with hloodlike stains on the walls—apparently a place in which people aiv beaten up. He was denied facilities to communicate with the British consul. He was released after his camera was damaged and tin* film expos**<l.
