WOOL PRICES.
ATTAINING FEARSOME HEIGHTS. CROSSBREDS REMAIN IMPREGNABLE. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, April 29. Dawson’s, commenting on the London wool sales, says: “The heights of the prices attained are almost fearsome and make folks nervous, but all the' old crossbred stocks are completely cleared and the position appears impregnable. “Merinos advanced more modestly but with limited supplies there was a strong general demand and prices may still be buoyant
“The real test must shortly be faced in Sydney and Brisbane w r hen supplies will be more plentiful. Meanwhile consumption in all grades has developed at an unexpected rate both for tops and wool. Most European mills are at a low level. “An outstanding feature of the season has been the resumption of Russian operations, while the unexpected strong support from America also helped the market. The Home trade finds difficulty in making ends meet whether selling or buying and is being dragged at the heels of a strong world demand.”
