DRAMATIC SOCIETY.

FORMED IN MEETING. Convened lor the purpose of discussing the possibility of forming a Dramatic Society in" Pahiatua, a meeting was held last Thursday when many persons interested in tiie project attended. The convener, Mr. H. R. Ogg, said the meeting had been called as it was felt that there was abundant reason for believing that such a society would be welcome in Pahiatua. “There was,” continued -Mr. Ogg, “some splendid local talent and it was for the purpose of giving such talent, and talent as yet undiscovered among others, an opportunity for greater expression.” Dramatic, art offered a very wide scope in this direction, and if such a society were formed locally, he was confident it would receive support.

A motion that such a society, to be called the Pahiatua Dramatic Society he formed was unanimously carried and the election-of officers resulted as follows: Patron : Dr. H. Paterson.

President: Mr. H. R. Ogg. Vice-presidents: Mrs. ri. Mackley; Miss D. Junker and Miss M Fletcher.

Secretarv and Treasurer • Mi ss M. McKlttrick. Executive Committee: President vice-president Miss Fletcher) ; secretary and treasurer (ex-officio), Mrs. A. R. Wylie; Miss M. Taylor ; Mr R. J. Husband and Mill . Wh i te. Casting and Selection Committee: President; Mrs. A. R. Wylie; Miss Fletcher and Mr. Husband. Producer: Air. H. R. Ogg. Wardrobe Mistress: Mrs. N Preble. Stage Manager: Mr. A. R. Wylie. Other minor offices to be filled later. It was decided t<> fix the membership fee at 3s 6d. Affiliation with the British Drama League was unanimously decided upon.. As this concluded the general business the meeting then closed. Tho Selection Committee approved of the 3-act comedy “Hav Fewer (Noel Coward) and the east was tentatively set up. More members are required, gentlemen especially and a pj>l millions addressed to the secretary will he appreciated.
