CLERICAL WORKERS’ DISPUTE.
PROCEEDINGS STILL DRAG ON. Electric Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, Last Night. The first conciliation proceedings brought by the newly-formed Wellington Clerical Workers’ Union •opened to-day and proved almost, wholly unproductive. There was no agreement on the question of wages, but the parties will meet again if it is deemed advisable after the sittings next week, in which other classes of clerical workers are concerned. These are clerks employed by merchants, wholesalers, indent agents and manufacturers, who will state their case on October 1 and 2. and these employed by retail traders, whose dispute will be considered on October 2 also.
