TEACHERS'S INSTITUTE.

MEETING AT KONINI

Mr A. P. L. Kennedy, of Eketahunt (president of the local branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute), presided over a representative meeting of teachers from various parts of the district on Saturday last at the Konini school.

Various matters concerning the classification and appointment of teachers were discussed, and a number of recommendations agreed upon. Notable among these were recommendations designed to obviate the necessity of constant transfer of teachers from school to school. A recommendation favouring transfer of teachers only at the beginning of each term was also favoured.
