WOMEN'S INSTITUTE.
MAKUR L MEETING. Despite cold, wet weather, there was a lair attendance of members at the meeting on June lOth. “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm'’ was the motto for the day. It was decided not to send a delegate to the Council meeting. Airs Jennings read a postcard from Airs Paterson with good wishes tor Alakuri. There was a good financial result from the dance, and the president thanked the helpers, particularly the M.C and doorkeeper. The July meeting is to be “Members’ Day.”
The competition was a “bunch of flowers pick c'd from an iniaginarv garden with the reason for putting different flowers together.” Airs Wilton took the first award with a bunch of wallflowers, from gold to deepest brown, full of fragrance and with the beautiful meaning, “Self control.’ ■* I lie Flower Emblem for Alakuri Women’s Institute”—Airs Dransfield—came second. The latter picked sonic* violets and primroses with thoughts of spring now. and summer coming, with plenty of sunshine and all the beautiful things that follow in the wake of sunshine.
A lecturette on “A trip to Nvassa band'* was given by Airs E. T. Poulton. anil was very interesting. I ’he latter s7>eko of the natives’
