In the doubles, Aliss Jacobs and Airs Fa by a n beat Misses Stammers and James, I—6, 6—3. 7—5 ; Aliss (\ Babcock and Airs J. Van Ryu (U.S.A.) beat Alisses E. Al. Dearman and Al. Ar. Lyle (Great Britain), 6—2, I—6, 6—3. The British defeat was due to Aliss Stammers’’ inconsistency. She did not reproduce yesterday’s brilliance especially against Airs Fabvan, and was also very erratic in the doubles when she lost her service at 4—4. Aliss Helen Jacobs (U.S.A.), after two defeats, rallied magnificently in the doubles.
