FARMERS AND POLITICS.
HELPING THE GOVERNMENT. Electric Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, February 13. The New Zealand Farmers’ Union Executive met to-day and went into committee to discuss matters in connection with the Government’s Labcur policy as affecting rarmers. Mi- Poison explained that there * had been a meeting of the committee with the Ministe r of Labour and the Unemployment Board to discuss matters affecting the Farmers’ Union and in regard to unemployment tnd how the Union could assist the new Government. Dealing with vexed piestions the meeting has been most friendly. “We found the Minister anxious to consult us and hear our point of view in regard to those questions, but of course, as you must be aware, the new Government has very definite principles in regard to the questions of labour and is very anxious to put those principles in operation. They are clearly anxious to do that with the least amount of dislocation and with a desire to meet the farming community as far as it ;s possible to do so.”' Mr Pol son said he had promised to bring the matter before the Union in order to come to a definite understanding before going to the Government again. They were agreeable to give the Union as much time as was required in order to formulate its ideas. He pointed out the need for a frank discussion, as suggested, by going into committee. The result of their del deration will be communicated to the Press.
