MONETARY POLICY OBSCURE. Electric Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, Last Night. Replying to questions on prospective legjsla/sfon to-day the Prime Minister said no detailed statement about the Government's monetary policy would be made before the Bill comes down in the House, though this did not mean that a statement on national finance and the general principles of the Govenuent s policy would not be made before Parliament met. It was certain, however, that no details of the main financial measure would he disclosed before the Bill was introduced. Mr Savage said the Finance Bill would be introduced in the early stages of the session.

Other important Bills would follow without delay. Altogether there would probably be six major Bills. It is understood among the matters to be dealt with in the initial legislation will he vital amendments to the industrial laws ; the 40-hour week on public works* to begin with; restoration of the wage cuts ; guaranteed prices for dairy produce together with a marketing scheme; and railways construction.
