LUNCHEON ADDRESS.

MR B. J. JACOBS IN PAHIATUA. The second luncheon of the Pahiatua District Progressive Association was held in the Club Hotel yesterday when the President Mr K. Siddells presided. Over fifty local business people and farmers attended. Alter a very appetising luncheon was partaken of Mr S. K. Siddells expressed his pleasure at seeing so many people present, and the manner in which all were mixing. He then introduced Mr Bert Jacobs, of Palmerston North, who he said was one of the best after-diunei s|m ikers in New Zealand, who was going to give a short address on “Mythology from Day to Day.” Mr Jacobs said he much appreciated the invitation to address the club, and wished it every success as he realised the difficulty in or_ mining such a luncheon and tile great benefits that the community gamed from such a chib. He said be h. ped that none <>i the members had eeti kept a way by the title ol dress, but lie would endeavour to make it as interesting as possible. Dr. H. Paterson, speaking on behalf of the Association, thanked Mr Jacobs lor liis excellent address. He had. both seen and heard Mr Jacobs in other places but when lie saw him to-day he thought he c-id not seem the same, then when he hoard hU voice he had said to- himself. * ‘The voice is the voice of Jacobs.” Mr Paterson added that lie thought the subject was an apt one for lawyer, as lawyers sometimes had to utilise mythology in their profession. He then moved a very hearty vote of thanks which was carried by acolaination. ihe President thanked all for being present, and expressed the hope that they had all enjoved the function.
