THAT BOROUGH COUNCIL JUNIOR.
(Correspondence is welcomed on interesting subjects, but we do not necessarily endorse the opinions of correspondents. > (To the Editor). Sir, —Will the Pahiatua Progressive Association stand idly by. without entering an emphatic protest against the action of our Councillors in squandering the ratepayers' money, by offering the stupendous sum of £*32 lOs per year (only -52 weeks of six days a week) for an office junior. Of course, they have saved themselves to a certain extent by making it clear that ir a boy stays 10 years in the position, he will get no increase in salary. Perhaps the idea of the large salary is to get some University graduate to accept the position, and als<» to < place no incentive in the way of a ; Ixiy helping himself if a lower salary had been offered. Good old Pahiatua. Your name will ring from end to end of New Zealand for your generosity.—l am. etc., “RATEPAYER.” Pahiatua, February 13th, ID3>J
