DIVERSION OF CREEK. The County Clerk stated at to(iaj s meetuifi ot the Pahiat-ua County Council that he had been ap~ proatabed by Mr M. Priest of Xgaturi in the matter of creek diversion at Hotel Bridge. No 61 PahiatuaPongaroa Main Highway and the disposal of the old bridge thereat. Mr Priest has offered to allow the necessary cut to be made through his property free of cost to the Council and to pay the sum of to fo rthe timber in the old bridge. I verbally conveyed this offer to your Consulting Engineer. Mr H. Sladden.. who at that time was of the opinion that tin 1 offer was a. reasonable one. Since then, I have discussed the matter further with Mr Langbein ol the Public \V orks Departme nt who has made an inspection of the bridge, and he places the value of the bridge at CIS which after deducting Mr Priest’s ofler of, Cb would represent the value of the land taken for creek diversion purposes at £l3. It is desired that your Council should give a direction in this matter either" bv referring the matter to the Consulting Engineer for his attention or in whatever manner it is deemed advisable.
