The church, which is more than 50 years old. was completely destroyed in spite of the efforts .»r volunteer fire fighters. Father M. J McMonagh the priest in •charge, said everything was in order when he visited the church about 5.30 pm., and about an hour later *he saw the church in flames. The fire quickly gained a strong hold on the dry timber. He summoned the assist a ire of people who bad been at si Darfield peture show, but the church was soon destroyed, also valuable vestments, furnishings and statues.
