BERLIN, January 18. ‘‘The time will come when Germany must demand. her colonies back,” declared Dr. Goebbels, addressing 20,000 Berlin Xazis. He added: “Germany cannot continue to live as a poor country while the rest of the world rolls in wealth. We are beggars. We have no colonies and no raw materials. We are confronted with difficulties which cannot be overcome by internal methods. Others do not need the colonies they, have taken from us. It is dangerous for the world not to concede such demands because some day the bomb wall explode.” Dr. Goebbels added: “There are moments when one lias to take the sword and cut the knot. W© don’t want to interfere in the conflict between Britain and Abyssinia on the one hand and Italy on the other, but Germany is learning a lesson from the situation, namely, that a. nation without power cannot preserve* peace and that we cannot rely on the League.” Dr. Goebbels concluded bv saving: “We must become a nation of martyrs because we have certain tasks to fulfil in the world.”
