Romance with a new flavour i> provided by a type of leading man new to the screen in "Mala the Magnificent,” Metro-Gcldwyn-Ma yer’s huge drama of tlie Arctic, filmed during the year’s stay of the studio’s polar expedition in the Far North which shows at ilie Ring’s Theatre, matinee and evening. This leading man. who has become a sensation as the result of the picture, is Mala, who heads the native cast seen in the thriller. Tall, handsome, the swarthy son of tbe icelands lias tbe features of a bronze statue. A great hunter and tribal leader, he stages the thrills of polar bear and walrus capture, the fight with tlie wolf, and such astounding action perfectly naturally—it is only wliat he lias done all his life. It was through bis association with polar expeditions that the attention of Col. W. S. Van Dyke was attracted to him and lie was cast in tlie picture. With tbe exception of the white men playing the Mounted Police, Col. Van Dyke, who plays the inspector. and Captain Peter Freuchen. the author, who plays the sea captain, all the actors in this picture- are native Eskimos. recruited on location. Van Dyke brought several back to Hollywood with him when the oicture was finished.

In addition there will be screened Cinosound News, Metrotone News, “Barnyard Olympics” (latest Mickey Mouse C'art<x>n) and “Dirty Work.” (Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy).
