Mrs R. S. Black. Democrat candidate for Dunedin North, opened her campaign last night when she addressed a largely-attended and orderly meeting of electors. She outlined the party’s platform on the lines previously enunciated by the leader of the party (Mr Hislop) and was accorded an attentive hearing. Mrs Black i s the first woman candidate to contest a. seat in Otago.
Strong resentment was voiced yesterday at a conference of dairy company directors and suppliers at Morrinsville. at the absence* of Air A. .1. Murdoch, chairman of the Dairy Board and representative of the Northern ward. Tin* mc*eting was called to hear Mr H. E. Davis London manager of the Dairy Board, and a motion was tabled refusing to hear Mr Davis until Air Murdock could bo present. After a lengthy discussion it was agreed to substitute a motion for one of vote of censure on Air Murdock. Air Davis then went on to outline details of the marketing machinery.
