ALLEGED THEFT.
COWS FROM GREYTOWN. Electric Telegraph—Tress Association WELLINGTON. October 21. Twenty cows which were missed at Grey town from a herd of a hundred owned by Mr Quentin Donald were alleged in the Supreme Court, to-day to have been stolen, by Hurry Leo Bjiggar, aged 32, a labourer, drover and dealer. He pleaded not guilty to tin-' charge of theft and not guilty to the charge of receiving the cattle knowing th(»m to have been dishonestly obtained. According to the charge the twenty cows were valued at £IOO.
The prosecution said the cows were? all heavily in calf and when a muster was taken it was found twenty were missing. A few days before B.iggar had sent twenty cows to the Gear Meat Company as boners. Evidence was given that the hides at the works were inspected by Air Donald and twenty were identified For the defence it was claimed that none of the hides were identifiable as belonging to Air Donald. The case is proceeding.
