The fields were large, the racing good and the tOtalisator investments amounted to '1:4746, as compared with £41674 10s last year, there being an increase of £7l 10s. The track was in -plendid order, and the attendance was 67,000. Ho had recently been suffering from a liver complaint, although his track work was usually brilliant. McCarten was to have ridden Homer, but be asked to be relieved in order to ride Loud Applause, who was also outclassed. Homer is now to take part in the Victoria Derby. A llunga was bred in South Australia by the late Sir Sidney Kidman. He was, bought cheaply at the Sydney Easter thoroughbred sales for 120 guineas.
