SERVICES TO DWELLINGS.
OVERSEER’S REPORT. The overseer (Mr T. Clarke) reported as follows at the monthly meeting of the Borough Council on Monday night: “Work done during April, 1935. A blocked sewer in Cambridge Street has been cleared. Water connection has been made to Dr. Watson’s premises in Main Street. Water and sewer connection has been made to Mrs Gilbert’s property in Princess Street and to J. Cleghorn’s property in Main Street. A leaking valve in the Main Street has been repaired. Water-tables and paths have been cleaned in Huia Street, Main Street and Edward Streets. Footpaths in Tiraumea Road have been cleaned. Water-tables have also been cleaned in Sedcole, Tararna and Wake man Streets. The grader has been working on streets. A quantity of soil has been carted to the town squares. Settling pans at the reservoir have been cleaned.” HEALTH OFFICER’S REPORT. The health inspector’s annual report read : “In submitting the annual report for the year ended the 31st March, 1935, it is with great pleasure that I am able to report that no notification of infectious cases has been received for the Borough for the whole year. ‘ ‘Plumbing and drainage: There have been eleven new connections made to the sewers. Two premises have had the drains re-connected and re-constructed and two septic tanks have been installed. In every case the work has been carried out by licensed plumbers and drainlayers, and has complied with the regulations ‘ ‘Food premises : These premises are regularly inspected. The conditions are satisfactory’. “Rubbish collection: Inspections made of the business area show that rubbish is removed at frequent intervals. “Water supply: Samples have been taken from the old supply and also from the new well. This matter
is receiving the attention of your Council and it is not necessary for me to go into detail on this matter.
“Hotels: These premises are inspected at intervals. The conditions are satisfactory. “Nuisances: All nuisances are dealt with immediately they are received- There is none which call for speci al m ent i on. “The condition of the Borough may be regarded as satisfactory.” The reports were received.
