This simple beautifier is just as good for the night care of the skin as expensive skin foods. Economy hints: Tapioca soaked in water for one hour makes an excellent binding for croquettes, fish cakes, etc., instead of egg. Oatmeal or crushed vermicelli will do* instead or breadcrumbs for coating fish, meat, etc., before frving or baking. The water in which macaroni or rice is boiled should be kept for stock. Make stock for gravy off skins of carrots and onions. They contain valuable salts. Pare or grate off yellow’ rind from oranges and lemons. It is this yellow rind that contains the essential oil. Be very careful to avoid the white, underlying skin, which is very hitter. Put grated rind into a bottle, and cover with alcohol, or a simple sugar syrup, or both in equal parts. Cork the bottle and let it stand three weeks. If desired very strong, pour this liquor over fresh grated peel and let it stand another three weeks.
