Margaret Knox Glen, a widow, aged 72, was killed at Christchurch yesterday when slie was struck by a car driven by Neil Barnell Young. Mrs Glen was attempting to cross the Papanui road when she was knocked down.
The London Daily Telegraph’s Moscow correspondent says it appears certain that M. Laval and M. Stalin hare agreed upon the principle of a multilateral pact of nonaggression such as Hitler expressed his willingness to enter. Poland is understood to be willing to join on condition that Germany adheres and Czechoslovakia is not included. The three Baltic States will accept if Germany does. Unprecedentedly high scoring marked the qualifying rounds of the Dunlop £I6OO professional golf tournament at Southport, England, in which. 250 participated over the Bird lake and Hillside courses.
