METHODIST LADIES’ GUILD.

OPERATIONS FOR THE YEAR.

THE ANNUAL AIEETING. The annual meeting of the Ladies’ Guild was held at the Parsonage on Tuesday last when a very fair attendance of members '\Tr a P K M over by the president, Mrs K. M. R °4iter the usual devotions, the minutes of the last annual meeting were read and confirmed. The secretary, Airs H. K. then presented a comprehensive r port of the year’s working and as will be seen by a perusal ot the report, published below, very satisfactory work was performed by this branch of the church. After general discussion upon the report and bai ance-sheet, they were adopted. The election of officers was proceeded with and resulted as under. President, Mrs K- AI. Roberts; vlce " presidents, AXesdames AVillis and Hansen; secretary, Airs H. R. Ogg i treasurer, Aliss AX. Olsen; organists, AXesdames Dodd, AX. F. Ryan and H. R. Ogg. .. _ ~ , The usual business or the (juiia was proceeded with. In connection with the forthcoming gift shop. Air H. Watson very kindly agreed to place at the Guild’s disposal, his shop in AXain Street and arrangements were finalised for June 11th. Church cleaning duties and hostesses for the month were arranged. After further general discussion the meeting closed with the Benediction. Afternoon tea was dispensed by Airs AX. F. Ryan and AXiss T. Gardner.

The secretary’s report read: “Once again we are in the happy position of being able to record a highly successful year’s working. Financially, our efforts were crowned with a much greater measure of success than has been the case for some years past and this, of course, has only been possible by reason of the continued loyalty, harmony and goodwill of the members and church supporters generally. ‘ Alembership : AXembership shows a slight increase over last year’s figures and attendances at the monthly meetings have been satisfactory. There are still, however, many faces we would like to see at these meetings and a cordial invitation awaits all who care to come along and join us. “Finance: As mentioned previously the financial result of the year’s working has been most satisfactory and must have been very gratifying to all concerned.

“The four gift shops netted approximately £SO while the annual sale of work produced the splendid sum of approximated £54. “Improvements: Afinor repairs to the exterior of the Parsonage, including a certain amount of new spouting, -were effected. A new porcelain bath was installed in the Parsonage and quotations for a porcelain wash hand basin were obtained. In addition, several miscellaneous items were purchased from time to time and the stock of household utensils, etc., is up to a reasonably good standard. “General : In conclusion. our thanks n<re extended to all those friends who in any way assisted ns during the year and in this connection I think we owe a debt of gratitude to those who, year after year, do such yeoman service in preparing .stalls, etc., at the annual sale of work, and to the Press for the generous treatment- accorded us.”
