CAMOUFLAGE ALLEGED.
AUCKLAND BUSINESS MEN.
THE COUNTRY’S FINANCES
Electric Telegraph—T ress Association AUCKLAND, November 16.
The Auckland Chamber of Commerce, after discussing the Budget, passed a resolution expressing the opinion that it is most that a full statement of the national finances should be made on the introduction of the Budget. Certain items in the last Budget were open to serious question and tended to show a far different position than was warranted by the financial position of the country. Instead of an estimated deficit of £2,094,000, the correct position would show a deficit of £6,344,000, without counting in any further Loudon funds likely to accumulate or the cost of exchange on them. Members took the view that undoubtedly there was some camouflage, and expressed r. prehension that the people were living in a fool’s paradise.
