NIREAHA NEWS.

Local dairy farmers are at id resent very busy feeding out and most are experiencing difficulty in using all their usual hay, etc., no doubt owing to the good growth of new grass.

Several sheep farmers have stated that this season is the best that has ever been experienced here and that their docking jDer cent ages should be a record. Tlie football club recently made a canvass of the district with a donation list for Mr G. Stark, who unfortunately broke his leg while playing this season. As a result Mr Stark_ will benefit handsomely and tlie football club wishes to thank those who gave so generously. The old-time dance held at Nireaha last week proved a- great success. Enthusiasts were present and greatly helped to make dancing go so smoothly. The old-time dances drew quite a big crowd of elderly folk who showed their appreciation by joining in and giving the younger ones a demonstration of real oldtime dancing. During the evening Mr W atson Pryde, president of the tennis club, t-hanked those who had attended from outside districts and the local people for their help, Mr Les. Nation was a live wire at the piano and helped to make the dance the success it was both socially and financially.

The tennis courts have now been top-dressed and appear to he in excellent order. Supporters have arrangements well in hand and a start will soon be made with a season that to present appearances will be highly successful. Mr A. G. Holms, of the General Post Office, Wellington, was a recent visitor to Nireaha for a few days. Mrs Gardener is paying a short visit to Mrs A. Stuart. Mr Woodley, junr., who had to enter hospital lately for treatment to his leg, has made a good recovery and is now able to resume work. Mr C Bowyer had the misfortune to break three ribs while working recently.
