FELL DOWN CLIFF.
TWO schoolgirls killed. Electric Telegraph—Press Association HASTINGS. Last Night. A fall down a 200-foot cliff in the Hawke’s Bay back-country. 15 miles from Puketitiri, resulted iu the deaths of two schoolgirls belonging tc Hastings, when they were -pencU mg a holiday with their uncle there. They were Gertrude Hart aged 11. and Esme Hunter, aged ioj. Accompanied by a younger sister ol the girl Hunter, they went out this morning some distance from the homestead at -Pakaututu station, of which their uncle is manager. They intended to make their way down the cliff track to the creek below when portion of the lace ot the cliff, composed of papa and shingle, slipped away', taking the two elder girls to the bottom, 2110 feet below. They were terribly mutilated, and great difficulty was experienced ii. the recovery of the bodies.
