CRUTCHINGS SALE.

W AIR ARAP A FAR MER S’ CO-OP. The Wairarapa Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Association, Ltd., report: The ! sale or crutch ings, etc., created widespread interest,' it being the first sale of importance held in New Zealand since the close of the 1932-33 series in April last. There was a large and representative bench of buyers, and bidding was well spread, keen, and at times very animated. The offering was larger than that submitted at the August sale last year, but generally speaking the standard of the crutchings was somewhat lower. Fleece wool, pieces, bellies and locks, especially finer sorts, were in demand, and prices were very satisfactory, but the pleasing feature of the sale was that all classes and types were readily sold. Prices for crutchings were a I penny to twopence higher than at S the last Wellington sale held in April. DALGETY AND~iGO., LTD. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report: The total offering amounted to 4200 bales—the greater proportion of the catalogues comprising crutchings and pieces. We submitted 960 bales, and sold 90 per cent, under the hammer. A good bench of buyers was in attendance, and competition generally for crutchings was fairlv sound, although unfortunately Japanese i buying did not predominate. Super style crutchings were taken by Japan add the Australian mills. Local scourers secured a fair weight of the medium and inferior grades. Lellies and pieces met with” fairly spirited bidding, the French trade securing a fair share of the lots submitted. Super crutchings sold from ojd to 6Jd ; medium to good, 3Jd to sJtl ; inferior and seedy, l/d to 3Jd; crossbred bellies and pieces, to od; locks and stained pieces, Id to 3d. The fleece wool submitted sold fairly well, medium halfbred, 50/56’s average, selling from lOd to 10id ; fine crossbred, 48/50’s average, 6Jd to BJd;_ medium crossbred, *46/48*8, 44-d to 53d. The few lines of lambs brought forward elicited keen competition, Down lambs, 50/56’s, selling from 9d to 12Jd;' fine, 44/50’s 6fd to 8-}d.
