The Pahiatua Herald PUBLISHED EVERY EVENING SATURDAY, JULY 8, 1933. N.Z. CHEESE.
The tribute paid by the Prime Minister (Hon. G. W. Forbes) to the Governor-General (Dord Bledisloe') in which he warmly praised the keen interest manifested, by His Excellency in agricultural science, will be heartily endorsed by the people of the Dominion. Dord Bledisloe lias {riven further proof of his practical interest in the welfare of producers. He has offered two valuable trophies for competition for the cheese exhibits at the National Dairy Show to be held m Dondon in October. One of the trophies will be awaideu for the best cheese produced in any Empire country and the other for the best cheese among the entries from Xsw Zealand alone. We trust that in this competition Pahiatua factories will be successful. The X.Z. trophy is to he regarded also as a distinct prize to be associated each year with the district in which the factory producing the winning exhibit is situated. The handsome trophies should be a great incentive to the managers of cheese factories to produce the very finest quality and the exhibits should prove a splendid advertisement for New Zealand. Dord Bledisloe has pointed out that our cheese should be second to none. He has commented on the adverse criticism which Dominion cheese had at times been subjected to in Great Britain and lie is of opinion, in which a great number will share, that considering our natural advantages New Zealand cheese should have no serious rivals m quality, even allowing for the long distance to the chief market.
