MANGAMUTU SCHOOL.

THE ANNUAL PICNIC PRESENTATION OF PRIZES. Favoured with fine weather, the Manga unitu School picnic was held yesterday on the Mangamutu Domain. The children, together with their parents, attended in full number, and from beginning to end one and all thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The energetic secretary, Mr J. E. /‘lacdonald, kept the programme goig and under his guidance the van- \ ous events were got off with despatch. As usual, the ladies provided a bountiful lot of delicacies to which the children did full justice. After several events had been decided, Mr D. O’Brien, the genial chairman of the committee, in presenting the prizes for the past year’s ! work, complimented the teachers, Miss M. P. Hurren and Miss V. L. Williams, on the manner in which they had carried out their duties. Proof of this, he said, was that every scholar who sat for their proficiency gained it with credit. With a will the children answered. his call for three cheers for Miss Hurren and Miss Williams. followed by three more for the Mangamutu ladies.
