SUCCESSFUL DANCE. (From Our Own Correspondent). Tlie dance held by the local miniature rifle club in the Alakomako Hall proved to be a most successful function, about 40 couples dancing to the music of the Pahiatua orchestra. The hall was decorated with native shrubbery, the yellow) wattle and the broad fronds of the tree fern making an ensemble worthy of the time spent by an energetic committee. The supper provided by the club members was ample and most enjoyable. Mr J. Sargent carried out the duties of M.C.

In presenting the prizes won during tlie season, Air J. Hoggard, a vice-president, apologised for the absence of the president of the club (Mr J. D. Alnthews) who was unable to be present. Sargent, 400; torch (Air H. Sargent, AVanganui), Air C. Garliek, 402; smoker’s 'outfit (AV.F.C.A.), Air H. Eddie, 402. A shield presented by All- J. Garliek for the highest score off the rifle for three nights in succession was won by Air J. Sargent, who also won a box of tea presented by an outside firm for the grand aggregate of tlie season, with a score of 1286. Air E. A r i 1 e was runner-up, with a score of 1263.
