An unusual case of radium being thrown away was related at a meeting of th'o Napier Hospital Board. It was reported that alter the nurse had taken radium- from a patient's lace, she inadvertently threw it into tile rubbish bucket, after which it was consigned to the destructor before the mistake was discovered . It is honed that the- precious, substance will b-e recovered from the ashes by a New Zealand process. The radium concerned is worth approximately £2OO.
