DRIVER EXONERATED. Electric Teicraph-—Frees Association AUCKLAND, Last Night. A charge of negligent driving of a motor lorry, thereby eausin the death of an elderly Wetere paki. aged 30, preferred in the Police Conit against Clive Francis Stevens, was dismissed by Mr Hunt, S.M. without calling on the defence. The Maori, who was very feeble, was crossing at the junction of two streets when the lorry struck lnm, breaking one leg, and he died in hospital. An eye-witness said the Maori hesitated when in front of the lorry.
