Mr A. A. Vaughan will spend Xmas at Wanganui. Mr -J. H. Dash wood, is siiending the holidays at Cnstlepoint. Mr S. T. Turney is spending the legal vacation at Paekakariki. Mr S. K. Siddells will be a visitor to Wellington. for the holidays. Mr J. D. Gardiner, of Auckland, is the guest for Christmas, of Mr and Mrs W. D. Taylor. Mr D. Corbett, of Napier, is spending Xmas as the guest of Mr and Mrs J. D. C. Crewe. Miss D. Hall, af Wellington, is spending Christmas with her mother at Mangatainoka. Mr lan Taylor, of Porangahau, is spending his annual holiday with his parents at Mangatainoka. Mrs Dobson, of Kumeroa. was tendered a send-off at Woodville and presentations were made to her. Attention is drawn to the notification regarding tenders for work at the Pahiatua D. H. School Mr R. T. Adams is motoring to Napier on Boxing Day. where, with his wife and family, he will spend the legal vacation. Lieutenant Benseman of Pahiatua, has been appointed to assume control of a new corps of the Salvation Army at Sunnier, a. 'popular seaside .suburb. Christchurch, and will leave here on 9th January.

Bessie Lee, a pupil of the Matrvrawa School. lias a perfect attendance record for six years. She has not been absent from ecliool for even lia’f a day- during the period, and has often bad to walk 2i miles. This year Bessie has obtained her proficiency certificate.

In tlie New Zealand University examination for the Diploma in Banking and Education. Mr .T. H. Walsh, of the staff of the Te Awainutn branch of the Union Bank of Australia, and son of Mr J. A. Walsh, was again sit cessful in passing in the three subjects for which he sat. viz., currency and banking, commercial and banking law, and banking 11.

At the Feilding Magistrate’s Court yesterday a young man named Richard George Harland was charged with having carnal knowledge of i girl 4|uler 12 years of ago. The alleged offence took place at Apiti. Defendant pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial at the Palmerston North sessions in February next. Aroused was admitted to bail on two sureties of £IOO each.
