PROPOSAL CARRIED. The poll on the proposal to raise £2500 Main Highways loan was held in Eketahuna on Wednesday, says the express. Very little interest was taken in the matter. Out of 879 votes recordable under the plural voting system, only 187 were recorded. The poll was decided on a three fifths majority, consequently 114 votes were repuired to carry it. The poll was thus carried by- eight votes. The following was the voting at the various polls: County Office, for 37, against 14 ; Hamua, 8,3; Hukanui, 16. 9; Nireaha, 23, 20; Kaiparoro. 9,2; llongomai, 8. 2; Alfredton, 11 13 : Tiraumea, 10, 3; totals, 122, 66.
