HORTON BEATEN BY RUSSELL. Electric Telegraph—Press Association SYDNEY, June 14. The second round of the Amateur Uolf Championship wars played in showery weather. Horton played a great, game and was unlucky to strike a player like Russell at the top of his game. Smith, a youth from a. nine-hole course at Long Reef, made the sensation of the tournament. He defeated Murdoch in the first round and in the second overwhelmed Sturrock, the conqueror of Morrison. Results:—Whitton defected Harrison 6 up and 5 to play ; Apperiev defeated Nigel-Smith 11 up and 10 to jjlav ; Russell defeated Horton 2 up and 1 to play ; Walter Smith defeated Sturrock 7 up and 5 to play.
