Lancashire scored eight tries, two of which were converted, and the New Zealanders one try. There were six thousand spectators. Lancashire were superior in all departments, but their goal kicking was poor. The New Zealanders’ combination was defective. and they were also slow comp Tired with their opponents. Davidson did not reproduce his form of previous games owing to an injured leg. The New Zealanders won tlie toss and gave Lancashire the first use of a strong breeze. Carr (who was •outin New Zealand with the last English team), Bithcll and Elluby scored tries in the first half, none of which wais converted. Two penalties from favourable positions were also missed. Lancashire in the second half staved better, and Ellaby scored the most spectacular try of the clay after running seventy yards, Carr. Frcxlshaw. Wood and Price also obtained tries Crooks and Carr converted one earn. Herring, the Auckland forward, .scored after one of New Zealand’s rare breakaways. The Now Zealand team was:
