Alderman Mostyn, tlie new Lord Mayor ol Sydney, in addressing the heads of tlie City Council departments, plainly told them that whatever their civic or political connections might be they must cany out the determined policy of the Council or leave tlie service. As economy was the keynote ol his policy, he was determined that they must live within the Council’s income so that an increase of rates might not be necessary.
